When buying a brand new boat dock, it helps to know what makes it a good quality one. Youtuber BestmadeDocks offers three tips on purchasing the best dock to suit your needs.
His first piece of advice is to ensure the decking is removable. Allowing such a feature prevents the job of moving the dock in and out of the water from being too heavy. It’s easier to move the dock in parts rather than having one solid piece to take out every year.
The second tip is to buy shorter docking sections. Having any section longer than 8 feet means more weight to move around. Even if you have a light-weight aluminum boat dock, having longer, therefore heavier sections, will mean more work in both installation and removal.
Tip number three features cross-bracing for any dock purchased. Without cross-bracing, especially for legs longer than 4 feet, it will mean more wear and tear on the boat dock. This is due to the higher center of gravity the deeper the dock goes into the water.
Regardless of which company a boat dock is bought from, it helps to know which features will result in a good quality product.
